| Introduction
Dandelion Readers introduce phonic concepts sequentially in a structured way. This enables children to build up confidence from the very beginning. The Readers are split into two groups. The Initial Phonic Code books guide new readers through the individual letter sounds and the simpler digraphs. They can be used by Pre-School (some children), Reception and reluctant older readers. They are also suitable for home reading with parents. In total there are fifty books introducing the Initial Phonic Code in sets of ten. These are further split into letter sounds (Units 1 to 10) and simple digraphs (Units 11 to 20). The Extended Code books are for use by children who have mastered the concepts in the Inital Code units 1-20. They introduce the many different ways that vowel sounds can be represented. These books can be used alone or in conjunction with other phonic reading programmes. In total 30 books are available in three sets of 10. All the books use clear fonts on a cream background (to aid reading). The books use engaging stories to encourage the reader and are brightly illustrated. Worksheets are also available with further reinforce the concepts taught.
